About This Site

Hi, my name is Beren Patterson and this is my website.

ZHERO.NET is created so that travellers around the world can enjoy images of places they have been and places they are yet to discover. The electronic postcard section of tribalcog.com was the original concept for this site and was created so that people could send home more than just words to help inspire, remind, educate and bring the World to life for those stuck back at the office.

A Little About Me

I was born in Bristol, England, but my parents moved to New Zealand when I was 7. On the way we stopped in Bali. I remember the warm rain, the smell of the cloves in the cigarettes, the smiles and an amazing variety of fruit. Coming from Thatcher's cold, grey England this was a child's paradise!

At 15, my parents volunteered to do 9 months teaching in Himachal Pradesh, India. I went with them, supposedly to go to school to but shortly after my 16 birthday I was traveling across India by myself taking pictures. I came back to New Zealand to complete high school and finished top of my year.

At 34, I have now spent more than 4 years in Asia and a year in Latin America. The more I see the more I want to see; and the more I know I don't know. It is wonderful, especially because I have so much of the world yet to see!

Apart from travelling, I have achieved a Bachelor of Fine Art from Elam, the University of Auckland, majoring in Photography. My other qualifications include Red Hat Certified Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Associate and PADI Divemaster.

ZHERO.NET is one creative outlet that lets me share and promote my work. My photographs have appeared in magazines, websites and newspapers around the world covering such varied topics as mining in Sri Lanka to religions of South Asia.

When I am not travelling I live in Auckland, New Zealand.
